Our experienced outback team includes medical teams, mechanic and tire experts, 4WD specialists, and a fully set up radio communications vehicle with satellite phones.

Make new fun loving, like-minded friends and support the fundraising efforts of Variety - The Children's Charity who's only objective is supporting Australian kids in need. Variety helps kids living with disability and illness or experiencing disadvantage.
Variety has direct impact through the provision of grants for a range of equipment, such as wheelchairs or all-abilities playgrounds to provide practical help to kids, schools and organisations. They provide programs to educate and empower kids that are falling through the cracks and give scholarships to encourage the talents of kids living with disability or experiencing disadvantage.
And last but certainly not least, Variety holds kids’ events to bring joy, light and laughter to children in need and their families.

The 2025 Variety 4WD Adventure is a South Australian spectacular! Mark your calendars for 16 - 25 May 2025, and get ready to embark on an unforgettable 4WD adventure through the heart of South Australia’s most spectacular landscapes and exclusive tracks.
Kick off your adventure with an optional 4WD experience at Loveday 4X4 Adventures and welcome dinner in Barmera. Then, journey through the rugged Bendleby Ranges. Experience exhilarating 4WD day loops at Bendleby Ranges Station, test your skills, and share stories around the campfire. Bendleby Ranges’ rugged landscapes and diverse terrain provide the perfect playground for off-road enthusiasts.
Driving north, the route takes the team to Mt Freeling—a working sheep property that is not on the tourist maps. This leg offers a scenic drive with a lunch stop at a historic town, where you can enjoy local delicacies and explore its heritage. Upon arrival at Mount Freeling Station, immerse yourself in the unique charm of the outback. These exclusive two nights will be memorable for the thrill of navigating the rugged terrain of Mount Freeling, renowned for its challenging 4WD tracks and untouched wilderness.
At the dawning of Day 5 it's onwards to begin your day with a visit to Leigh Creek, a town rich in history and character. Then, embark on a 4WD adventure through the stunning landscapes of world-renowned Flinders Ranges National Park (Ikara) and on to experience the excitement of 4WD’ing on Willow Springs' exclusive private tracks. These tracks offer the perfect blend of adventure and heritage, providing an unforgettable journey through stunning landscapes.
Along the way, immerse yourself in the scenery and the unique atmosphere only Willow Springs can offer. You will marvel at its natural splendor and gain a deeper appreciation for its cultural and spiritual importance. The spirit of adventure and the area's storied past come alive, making this a truly memorable part of our trip.
On Day 7, your 4WD adventure winds from Willow Springs to Clare, S.A., and we enter a region renowned for its natural beauty and rich history. It is indulgence time. Home to around 50 separate wineries, Clare is simply stunning, with rolling vineyards, charming cellar doors, and gourmet food experiences. We spend the night in this idyllic location, soaking in the serene ambiance and relishing the opportunity to sample some of Australia’s finest wines, picturesque landscapes, and exceptional hospitality, making Clare an unforgettable highlight of the journey.
We begin Day 8 with a sumptuous breakfast at Mr. Mick Kitchen and Cellar Door, owned by a long-time supporter of Variety. Afterward, it’s southbound through diverse landscapes to the scenic coastal town of Robe, South Australia's favorite seaside town. Robe is a wonderful destination offering great food, stunning sights, and some of our country’s most exhilarating beach driving. The charming town offers a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure, making it an ideal destination for our 4WD expedition and a perfect finale’ for this trip of a lifetime.

What Do I Need?
You will need a 4WD with High and Low range and quality All-Terrain Tires. Variety (Vic) will provide a full vehicle checklist, advice, and a pre-event workshop to ensure your car and optional caravan/camper are adventure-ready. They will also provide a list of additional basic items recommended for all off-road vehicles.
The minimum number to make up a 4WD crew is two – a driver and a navigator - and the maximum is the legal capacity of the vehicle. This event is for those 18 years and older, and all applicants must have a current Working With Children Check (WWCC) endorsement, as the event visits many schools and other children's services along the way. Unfortunately, animals are not allowed on the Variety 4WD Adventure unless they are assistance animals (e.g., Guide Dog).

What Does it Cost?
There will be an entry fee of $660 (inc GST) per car and a participation fee of approximately $950 per person. This covers all event meals, entertainment, fun stops, event commemorative gift, and additional services on the event such as mechanical, medical support etc.
To enter the event, a minimum of $5,000 in donations per car must be fundraised, and this is tax deductible.
