When it comes to off-road adventuring, Signature Camper Trailers has built a reputation for delivering high-quality, versatile trailers that cater to a wide range of outdoor enthusiasts. Since its founding in 2016, this Australian-owned company has grown from a passion project to a respected name in the caravan industry. With a strong commitment to customisation and an emphasis on quality, Signature has carved out its niche by offering trailers that blend affordability with cutting-edge features.

A New Generation: The Iridium 13ft Gen 2

At the 2024 www.OnlyVans.com.au Caravan and Camper Excellence Round-Up, co-founder Sean showcased Signature’s latest innovations, including the newly relaunched Iridium 13ft Gen 2. From compact, budget-friendly campers to fully equipped hybrid models, Signature's lineup reflects the brand’s adaptability and its focus on providing options for every type of adventurer.

One of the key models on display at the event was the newly revamped Iridium 13ft Gen 2, a camper trailer designed for couples who want to venture further off the beaten track. “The Gen 2 is a relaunch of the Iridium model with a few upgraded features: new doors, new windows, and a whole new electrical system,” Sean explained. And he wasn’t exaggerating—the Iridium Gen 2 comes with a REDARC Manager 30 system, complete with a RedVision Display, and a REDARC Rogue setup that controls all lighting and 12-volt circuits.

A Model for Every Adventurer

Signature prides itself on its broad range of models designed to cater to all types of adventurers. From the compact Expedition trailers, aimed at young couples and hardcore off-road enthusiasts, to their larger 16ft options for the grey nomads who prefer sticking to the bitumen, there’s something for everyone. Sean highlighted that while they have seen a trend for bigger, hybrid models, Signature hasn’t forgotten its roots in producing smaller, budget-friendly camper trailers.

“We’ve sort of come full circle,” Sean explained. “In the last 12 months, we’ve seen a lot of people go for bigger hybrids. But in more recent times we’re starting to see a trend back to the smaller, compact, budget camper trailer because a lot of companies are dropping it from their range.”

Innovation in Every Detail

What truly sets Signature apart is its commitment to customisation and quality. Sean noted that while the chassis and body are imported, nearly everything else is upgraded with top-notch Australian components. “The Signature difference is the fact that, yes, the chassis and body are imported, but then it’s pulled apart, the shocks and suspension are replaced with Aussie shocks, the electrical is RedARC, the air con is Webasto, the dust reduction system is Dometic, and we use Evercool fridges. Everything that we can physically replace, we replace with Aussie, quality gear. This kind of thing is rare in the import industry.”

Signature’s focus on providing flexibility for their customers extends to their electrical systems as well, with builds being fully customisable using REDARC and Enerdrive components. “Nothing’s off the table,” Sean said. “If we think it can work and it’s achievable, we’ll definitely look at it. We want people to have something awesome.”

Building a Loyal Community of Adventurers

This flexibility doesn’t end with the product itself. After-sales service is at the heart of the business, and Sean spoke passionately about the strong community of return customers who come back to upgrade from camper trailers to hybrids. Sean tells me of the importance of “Keeping that engagement and that small community with the customers,” mentioning an annual meet-up organised by Signature owners that has become a staple event for the brand. “It’s an awesome little community.”

Looking to the Future

The future looks bright for Signature Camper Trailers, with Sean hinting at a few exciting new releases on the horizon. The brand is gearing up to launch a larger 18ft dual-axle trailer with triple bunks designed to cater to growing families – a move that shows Signature’s ability to evolve with market demand while still retaining their core values of quality and affordability.

Additionally, Sean tells me, “We’re also about to introduce a full Cruisemaster suspension system, which is not really done in the import world – so airbag suspension, disc brakes.”

Despite acknowledging the economic challenges the industry is facing, Sean remains optimistic. “Everyone knows there’s been a bit of a downturn, but we’ll keep trucking on. We’re confident that sales will pick up, and we’ll deliver a wider range of models and capture a wider range of states in Australia.”

A Passionate Brand Built on Quality

It’s clear from speaking with Sean that Signature Camper Trailers is a brand built on passion. Whether it’s creating a product line that meets the needs of hardcore off-roaders or developing a strong community of loyal customers, Sean and co-founder Mark’s enthusiasm shines through in every aspect of their business. With upcoming releases that promise to push the envelope even further, Signature Camper Trailers is set to remain a staple in the Australian camper trailer market for years to come.
