JAWA Off-Road Campers: Combining Comfort and Durability
With a focus on offering high-quality, feature-packed models at competitive prices, JAWA Off-Road Campers has carved out a niche for itself since entering the market almost 15 years ago, particularly with adventurers seeking a balance of comfort and durability. At the recent OnlyVans.com.au 2024 Caravan & Camper Excellence Round-Up, I caught up with Laith Robinson, JAWA’s Queensland Show Manager, who introduced me to their latest model, the Infinity 15 Escape.
Introducing the Infinity 15 Escape: Compact Yet Feature-Rich
“It’s made for two people, with fridges inside and out, microwaves, and lots of storage,” Laith explains. At first glance, the Infinity 15 looks deceptively compact, but step inside and you’ll find all the features needed for a comfortable off-grid escape. It’s a model designed for ease – everything from the upgraded suspension and bearings to the solar and inverter system comes standard.
“We’ve got every feature under the sun – high power, high solar, big inverters, so that way you don’t have to do anything to your van,” Laith says.
Built for Convenience and Off-Grid Adventures
This commitment to providing a fully-equipped package is part of what sets JAWA apart. Laith tells me that the Infinity 15 has been a reliable and popular choice for the brand, with recent upgrades making it even more impressive. But what really stands out about this model is its sheer convenience.
“You’re talking about 10 minutes max [for setup], maybe with a beer in between,” Laith laughs.
Measuring in at a mobile and versatile 15 feet, the Infinity 15 Escape features a rear pop-out that expands the living space while still allowing for easy towing. With a king-size bed and no bunks, it is a couples' van at its core, made for those who want to hit the road without the hassle. As a result, the Infinity 15 Escape is a great option for every age and stage of life, Laith tells me, from younger couples without kids to empty-nesters looking to make the most of their newfound abundance of alone time.
Customer Service as the Key to Longevity
Although not yet an elder statesman of the caravan industry, JAWA’s longevity is to be admired, and Laith attributes it to their service. “It’s easy to sell a van, it’s harder to look after customers,” he tells me. Of course, it’s easy to sell a van when you’re building something that customers want, and JAWA seems to be hitting the mark on that front.
“I think people come to us because of the inclusions we have, but also the brands we use. It’s all high-end German and Australian-made quality products that really last.”
Security and Peace of Mind for JAWA Owners
But just having a great product isn’t enough. In such a competitive market, you need to give customers a reason to keep coming back and to trust your brand ahead of the dozens of others that they’re looking at. For JAWA, that means offering their owners security and peace of mind.
“We offer an Australia-wide warranty, Australia-wide service. It doesn’t matter where you are, we want people to feel safe.”
Growth and Expansion in a Competitive Market
In spite of the competition and the challenges that have rocked the caravan industry in recent years, JAWA continues to grow.
“We’ve had a really good year to be honest with you. We’ve been averaging some good numbers, and we’ve started to increase towards the end of the year,” Laith says.
Expansion is very much on the horizon, with plans to open more stores and reach new markets. “We’re really trying to get the brand further around, and you will see more stores come with that, which will give more people peace of mind that they can go anywhere.”
Looking Ahead to 2025
But even as JAWA grows, the brand’s focus remains on building lasting relationships with customers. “We’re not here to do big numbers,” Laith explains. “We’re here to make sure the customers are quality customers that are being looked after well.”
Looking ahead, there are several exciting releases on the horizon, including the 18-foot Tawari bunk and a two-person Escape pop-top van, expected to hit the market later this year. Expansion continues with plans to open a store in Perth, adding to JAWA’s existing locations in Caloundra, Caboolture, Townsville, and Sydney.
Jawa’s plans for 2025 are ambitious, but with their strong track record and loyal customer base, they seem well-positioned to achieve their goals. For Laith and the team, the focus remains simple: delivering high-quality vans that allow their customers to enjoy the great outdoors with confidence.
