Hybrid van has all the answers
Versatility ranks alongside affordability when choosing a recreational vehicle for the family and thanks to clever design, caravan makers such as EzyTrail have solutions for almost every holiday demand.
One of the latest designs is the Ezytrail Robe 15 which is available as the ‘Twin’ for two people, and ‘Quad’ for a family. Both are based on the same frame and have the same 6700mm overall length.
It is classed as a hybrid with its 2.3m body width and 2.6m height and has an aerodynamic body with distinctive tapered tail, along with specs for its off-road role such as the mud-terrain tyres, ALKO off-road hitch and independent suspension with Pedders shocks.
The pop-top and hard walled master bedroom extension give it a caravan like feel while respectively reducing wind resistance when being towed on the road, and for adding strength and reducing noise.
EzyTrail designed the Robe 15 for off-grid applications, fitting a power system including the Redarc Manager 30, 240Ah of lithium storage, 2000W pure sine inverter and 400W of solar.
The Redarc Manager30 is a 30A state-of-the-art battery management system designed to charge and maintain auxiliary batteries by incorporating AC, DC and solar inputs.
It is ideal for caravans with multiple battery banks because it can monitor the power levels at a push of a button.
The ability to go off the beaten track has also added 240-litres in freshwater storage and 80-litres for grey water.
Specifications differ slightly between the Twin and Quad with features including two kitchens for the Twin. This has a handy galley with two burners, cabinetry and sink for quick meals or morning coffees, close to the exit for accessing the external fridge slide-out, and a separate outdoor slide-out two-burner cooker.
Inside, the Robe 15 has a queen-size berth within the insulated hard-walled extension that is lined with marine carpet under a tropical roof-style hardtop lid, optimising the split system air-conditioning.
The interior living area also has plush upholstery and a drop-down table and a large shower and toilet cubicle.
It also has an A-frame mounted tap and external shower and storage for poles, gear and a generator. Hot water is supplied from a Truma system.
The fully-enclosed canvas area with electric awning also has outdoor speakers and bug lighting to create a welcoming ambience and provides an optional living and relaxing area.
There is also two fold-out seats for the dining areas, a stereo system with MP5 player, and a 21-inch HDTV with external and internal mounts.
EzyTrail currently has an Easter sale on some models.
