Changes Make Leura Even More Comfortable for Travellers
Major upgrades to one of Australia’s oldest caravan makers makes its latest motorhome model stand out in the crowd and offer more value for money.
Avida’s Leura MY23 motorhome brings updates aimed at improving travel comfort and convenience, including a new bathroom layout.
The manufacturer looked hard at improving the Leura’s functionality and has redesigned the bathroom so that the shower is now on the driver’s side to optimise space and flow within the motorhome.
This comes with a new shower base, walls and corner pieces to emphasise a sleek and modern design. The addition of a sliding bathroom door system boosts accessibility and privacy, allowing travellers to enjoy convenience and comfort simultaneously.
The Leura MY23 model also showcases significant upgrades to its electrical system.
This has been moved from a cupboard to an underfloor setup — similar to Avida’s Birdsville model — to enhance the interior layout and provide more space for storage.
It also allows for a cleaner and more organised living space.
The outside gets a standard roll-out awning for MY23, which gives travellers the luxury of outdoor relaxation in the shade and protection from rain.
The roll-out awning is equipped with an LED light to create a bright and cozy atmosphere for an optional living space from inside the motorhome.
Additionally, the Leura MY23 introduces the option of a top-load washing machine, ideal for travellers who want the convenience of doing laundry on the road.
The new models is also now equipped with overhead cupboards along the rear bathroom wall to add more storage solutions.
Improvements have also been made to the exterior of the Leura. It now features two new storage bins on the passenger side of the vehicle for additional space for belongings.
One of these compartments is designated for the battery, a clever relocation that frees up space under the lounge for more storage.
The integration of a window in the bathroom’s rear wall echoes the design choices seen in the Birdsville, further connecting the models with a cohesive aesthetic.
The Leura MY23 motorhome’s kitchen area has also undergone a transformation. The separation of the cooktop and sink optimises counter space — and also harks back to the original design — and has a new two-burner cooktop to add versatility to meal preparation.
Practicality takes centre stage with the addition of a door to the cabinet below the TV. This update maximises storage potential, enhancing the organisation of personal belongings and travel essentials.
Avida said that the Leura MY23 motorhome has a series of thoughtful changes that enhance both form and function.
They are in addition to existing convenience-focused design features, including the large lounge area with table for dining and the electric drop-bed.
Avida is a family-owned business that started manufacturing in Australia in 1965, with the formation of Freeway Camper Company.
From 1978 to 2013 Avida manufactured motorhomes, campervans and caravans under the name of Winnebago Industries, where it became famous for Winnebago motorhomes like Leisure Seeker, Birdsville and Esperance.
Avida today remains in the hands of the original family. It employs and supports hundreds of Australians at its 10-acre site in Western Sydney, NSW.
